Occasionlly I get the following error on a multiple of 10th frame during simming...
Cannot delete .fcd!
Simulaiton terminated
Once this occurs, I have to roll back to an earlier version of my scene to get anything working again...even if I point the cache to an newly created folder. These cache is pointing to a mapped network drive, but when i point it to a LOCAL folder on my system hd I don't seem to get the error (need to test more to be sure of that). Any ideas?
Thanks

read\write rights on ur network folder messing up ?
This Fcd if i m not mistaking is your snapshot files every N frames ( based on ur preference tab) .. if you put that to 100000 frame u should avoid that ( assuming you r like me not caring of that big ass snapshot file)

We've checked and there don't appear to be any permissions issues with the network drive. I'm only speculating here, but could it be possible that there is some kind of latency with the file system of the network storage when a file is deleted that is throwing Fume off?

hum.. maybe... would be weard if thats the case.. Did you try increasing the Snapshot frame # intervall ? did it pushed the error away ?

Hello,
I can't think of any reason why this would happen, except that some other process is using particular file.
If you find anything, please let me know.
