SL simming - progress info?
#1
When simming via backburner on a machine with FumeFx SL, should there be any kind of progress or status window? According to the help file "FumeFX will display its simulation progress window on the local machine". I assume by local machine it's referring to the SL node doing the actual simming? Or does this mean the Fume UI on the machine that originally SENT the job? Either way we're not getting any kind of status info.

Thanks,
Mitch

Hello Mitch,

A status dialog will pop up on a machine that does simulation, weather it is in SL mode or not.
Let me know if you cannot see it.

No, we don't see it on either SL machine. We originally installed FumeFX full version on them and later installed SL without un-installing Full first. Could this cause such a problem?

Thanks,
Mitch

maybe you r actually not using the sl dlls completly because of the way u installed , ini , etc.. I would try clearing out ffx completly and then install the sl 1.0a and see if it still does it .. a 1 machine fast test at least..

We tried a full uninstall of all FumeFX plugins then reinstalled SL only. Same problem...no progress UI. Could the problem be related to the fact we are running Max 8 and backburner 3?

Hello,

Did you maybe try to run task manager, select 3ds max task and select from menu Windows->Bring to front ?
Maybe that can help ?

hmm.. do you have checked "Virtual Frame Buffer" under Network Job Assignment window ?
That is the only thing I can think of at this moment.

Ok, figured it out. Did a "alt-space-M" to activate MOVE mode with 3dsmax app selected and discovered the FumeUI was way off the screen. For some reason it was way off the bottom left of the left-hand monitor. However, every time a new job is submitted you have to MOVE it again. Does it get the window position from the machine that submits the sim, or the local machine?
