Substitution for Vray GI Fume scene
#1
Hello everyone!

Since FumeFX doesn't support Vray and GI, is there any possibility to create volumetric Fume smoke, that creates self-shadows and also casts and receives shadows?

Thank you very much in advance!

Hello Emil,

You can download FumeFX 1.0a that does support VRay GI.

Thank you.

Unfortunately I cannot get a nice looking dense smoke with a proper thick shadow on the ground, although I have a light in the scene (which casts Vray Shadow and is also listed in the Fume UI). GI in Vray is activated, too.

If anyone has an simple example scene, I will be very happy!

Thanks in advance!

turn on cast shadows and receive shadows, and set the vray GI multiplyer in the moke render setup to 0. otherwise it will lighten your scene.
to get thicker smoke, emit more smoke, or increase the visibility fallof.
also play with the high treshhold to get nice smooth smoke Wink

Thanks! I'll try it!
It seems that when adding lights to the FumeFX via the Illum. Tab, the simulation needs to be re-run again...
