looping trouble
#1
Hi
I have a PFlow loop set up and Afterburn applied. I'm not animating any of the parameters or using AFCs. When I scrub the full, shape or noise previews, the image remains the same throughout. But when I render, I find that the noise pattern is different in frames that should be identical.

Is this expected? Is is impossible to loop Afterburn? Or is there something I may have missed?

Thanks
Mark

PS I've tried a default Afterburn system with the same results. I've also tried a stationary Pflow loop (two instanced PFlow systems end-to-end), but this gives exactly the same incorrect results.

PPS Is this a ParticleID problem? Will it work if I repeat the ParticleID with the loop?

Hello Mark,

Each particle has a unique seed, as otherwise, each particle will have the same noise pattern. This might be the cause why noise does not match in the loop you're creating.

Thanks.
Is there any way at all to get identical noise patterns in two seperate particles or particle systems?

I'm affraid that is not possible to do at the moment from a single AfterBurn entry, but it should be possible if you use two separate AfterBurn entries.

Thanks.
I actually tried that with both Pflow and PCloud (using two seperate Afterburn entries), but the result was the same - the phase was different for corresponding particles. The only difference in the two Pflow systems was the mesh given for the PositionObject operator. The Afterburn entries were identical. Any ideas?

Thanks

Got it. Two Pflow systems worked. I forgot to use duplicates of lights too, so the shadows were different.

Thanks for the help.
