Some ideas
#1
Hello

I had a few thoughts on a few things.

Firstly, seeing the simulation when you do a preview. Doesnt seem to work. Would be nice to see that as I need to time it an animation.

Maybe exporting the active preview window, as JPG's or somehting would be a good idea.

Not sure what the plan for future development is, but there are some great features in Maya Fluids that would be nice to impliment.

Filling the container from the off, great for clouds, and dispersion/mixing sims. Also can utilize gradients and the like

Lastly is the a shaded viewport view, to get an idea of the sim.

any who. just some ramblings.

1 is implemented and works fine for me...do you use ist correct ?
2 maybe a screencapturetool/"print"-key does it
3 the voxeldisplay shows colors/gradients....

ok, maybe i need to explain it a bit better. and maybe im doing something wrong.

ahhh ok. Just found the little '+' button next to the display box. Seems to make the FUME grid show up in the preview window. Cool. That one was user error!

as for the FUME preview. It would be good if these saved out as you play, bit like realflow's ability to save out streams of JPG's. makes previs a little easier.

The shaded viewport. I would like to see the volume shown as little puffs, not easy to explain unless you have seeen and used Maya Fluids. The dots, are ok, but a little missleading as to the volume.

I have one other cool feature. Thats fluid painting. another Maya trick really. But can be very usefull to paint in more density etc.

Well, i donn´t know Maya, so i cannot jump into discussion here...

For the jpg-sequence...just look´n´find. Fume offers a "Create preview" option. Once the simulation is done, you can create a preview with it. It´s in the menu -> preview Big Grin

Kind of like afterburn? Sounds tough to do IMO but it would be a cool feature.

na, more like maya fluids. its done with graphics card shading, volume style. its great at getting an idea of how it will look. I know the preview window does this, but im sure the voxels could be shaded, thats unless max cant volume shade. Im sure Bobo did some maxscript of somehting similar to that, showing max volumetrics in the viewport.
