New Features
#21
Hi Steve,

"If DS does have a future, I'm wondering if you'd be better off concentrating on the ocean simulation side of things, foam, spray, naval dynamics and forget about the terrain generation, and possibly even clouds?"

That's exactly what the plan is, but as you have said, FumeFX is in focus now and all the energy is put into it.
DreamScape is not dead.

Hi,

cheers - sorry about the late reply, shows how often I check the forum :/

I think the ocean part of DS could be as killer as FumeFX, but at the moment it sorely needs some attention. And FumeFX has been the focus for a good couple of years at least.

Well, now that Fume 2 is out does that mean Dreamscape might get some attention...?

Anything? I love FumeFX, And I love DS....but if you truly have no time to develop it, would you consider selling your tech for DS, either to AD to move into the core, or someone else? At this point I am even worried about FumeFx, because if you get interested in an even newer idea it will die like DS

No worries about FumeFX - there are so many things we want to add to it, so that we'll be occupied for another decade or so.
Similar is with DreamScape, but it will have to wait as FumeFX is priority.

Clarification: FumeFX will keep you busy for another decade or so, and THEN you'll work on Dreamscape? So despite how this thread started out, YEARS ago, in fact Dreamscape is in limbo with respect to new features for the foreseeable future?

I guess I'm glad I own Vue xStream and Final Render SE with its water surface, as they may see updates. Very disappointed that Dreamscape is essentially (despite your eventual plans) a dead product from a development standpoint.

NOW can we assume that DS is truly dead? I know what you've said in the past, but this is crazy.

Hello,

You can consider that it's not been developed, but it's not abandoned project.
