Extending Wind Daemons?
#1
Hi,

is it possible to extend the Daemons in Afterburn to include some of the functions of Max's space warps?

E.g. Turbulence and the Drag Warp?

Thanks,

Steve

Hello Steve,

That is possible to add to the AB Daemon.

We'd like to hear any ideas users might have regarding AfterBurn so
that we can make it even more powerful.
Any ideas/wishes are the most welcome.

Hi Kreso,

tha's good to know - I wasn't sure what's 'doable' with Afterburn compared to a fluids solution.

To be honest I'm a little fuzzy on how fluids might fit in with regards to Afterburn.

Are fluids generally capable of everything that a plugin like Afterburn can do, or would it be case of using one or the other depending on the amount of interaction that the effect requires?

As for other wishes...

1. Either support for standard and third-party materials for Hypersolids, e.g. translucency/sss (quite a big ask, I'd imagine), or expanding what the material can be inside AB itself.

2. Is it possible to get AB and Dreamscape to interact, regarding Haze? I don't seem to be able to get an Afterburn effect to blend in with Dreamscape haze.

If I think of anything else, I'll post it up here.

Cheers

You generally don't need fluid sims just for everything. Clouds or rocket trail are one example what can be done without fluid sim.

You're right about this one.
3ds max does not blend atmospheric effects properly as it should.
However, we're working on our atmospheric renderer that will blend all our volumetric plugins properly. You can expect AfterBurn and DreamScape updates by the end of the year.

Thank you for your post.
