FumeFX and AB shadow map: illumination map freeze
#1
When I have hi-rez fume fx grid (approx 450x700x500) and I use AB shadow map on 2 lights (with raytrace shadows for object shadows), I often get the problem of the render getting frozen on the first pass of the illumination map calculation. the freeze seems to occur randomly on different frames and the more I incresase the resolution of the grid, the more it occurs to the point of occuring everytime if the rez is too large. Is there any tips to avoid that?

(I'm rendering with scanline).

Ok, I finally found how to render my scene. And I will always remember now to use only RAYTRACED SHADOWS, render in scanline and use illumination with a treshold of around 5 for high rez grids. I will forget about ABshadow maps until they stop freezing.

Hello,

Thanks for your report. I will look into this to see if we can reproduce it.

I should add than finally I got better result (higher quality for shadow casted by object on fumeFX grid and less artifacts overall) (and higher stability) by using vray and regular shadow maps. Though slower to render than ABshadow maps.

Thanks for the update.
I generally use Scanline Raytraced shadows and IM.
