Afterburn and backburner
#1
Hello,

I am having troubles with our render-farm and afterburn. I copied all files from afterburn's plugin-directory (afterburn.dlo etc etc) in our shared network plugin directory, but everytime I try to render something with AB in our renderfarm, it doesn't find any dlu files. Do I have to install AB on every renderfarm node or is there a "some sort of network plugin" for AB.

Thanks,

Hello,

Make sure that you have copied TSregisternow.dll from max root folder as well as dcpflics.dlu from max/plugins folder.
I hope this will solve problem you have.

Hey,

I'm afraid that doesn't help. Let's assume our network plugin drive is P:

I have afterburn3 directory in P: (P:\afterburn3) and plugin.ini file configured to use that directory. Where should I copy TSRegisterNow.dll and dcpflics.dlu? They are now in P: but it doesnt work.

plugin.ini:
...
AfterBurn 3.1=P:\AfterBurn3\ (I have tried UNC style too)
...

error in backburner is: Missing dll: afterburn.dlo AB raytrace shadow etc... etccc. Missing dll: afterburn.dlr....

Hello,

You'll need to copy TSRegisterNow.dll to 3ds max root folder - like P:\3dsmax\

Hello,

The problem still exists.

I've reconfigured the renderfarm to use unc paths (network paths) and they are SO much more flexible than mapped drives. So I'm on the right track Smile

I have copied my workstation's 3dsmax7-directory (not the useless directories Smile) on our render manager server. It has 3dsmax7-directory shared as \\rendermanager\3dsmax\ and all plugins and scripts are under that directory (\\rendermanager\3dsmax\plugins and \\rendermanager\3dsmax\scripts..). Brazil works just fine and other DCP-plugins too. I have copied TSRegisterNow.dll to \\rendermanager\3dsmax7\ directory, but afterburn doesn't work. It gives me the same error on Backburner Monitor.

I've tried many different configuration combinations but had no luck. Have I just misunderstood something or is the problem just between by ears?

Maybe I just should give up and install AB on every renderfarm node...?

If you guys can give me any new info that could help me to solve this, that would be great.

Hi Tuomas,

Can you make a screenshot of your plugins folder and send it to mailto:kresimir@afterworks.com ?
If other DCP plugins are loading, then AfterBurn should load without any problems as well.
Make sure that you also have afterworks.dlu in /plugin/ folder.
