Hi,
I uninstalled all Afterworks plugins for 3ds Max 2009 and also uninstalled 3ds Max 2009 (32-bit).
I then downloaded and installed Dreamscape, FumeFX, and AfterBurn for 3ds Max 2010 (32-bit). DreamScape and AfterBurn appear to be working correctly, but 3ds Max is reporting an error when trying to load a DLL for FumeFX (this occurs during the 3ds Max splash screen):
DLL
failed to initialize.
Error code 126 - The specified module could not be found.
I'm not sure what module this dialog is referring to. I checked that the DLO file listed above exists, and it does.
I press OK on this dialog box and then 3ds Max continues to load normally, but then another error occurs when the UI appears:
File Error:
Could not open file FumeFx.ini for writing.
Global preferences will not be saved.
I press OK, and then I can continue using 3ds Max.
The installers that I used are:
AfterBurn40bR2010.exe
DreamScape25eR2010.exe
FumeFX12R2010.exe
I did try uninstalling FumeFX (I initially installed it in custom mode and selected all of the components), and then I reinstalled FumeFX using the recommended configuration. Both installation attempts result in the same behavior listed above.
I'm using Vista Ultimate (SP1, 32-bit, all updates), and 3ds Max 2010 (32-bit).
Thanks a bunch for any help or FYIs.
