FumeFX Motion Vector for ReelSmartMotionBlur
#1
Just one question about motion vector.
Is there any way to get motion vector renderElemnt for AfterEffects' plugin ReelSmartMotionBlur?

I thought "fusionworks Velocity" for renderelement could help, but it seems its result is completely different.
The reason behind is to add same amount of 2d post motionblur to fume & karaktoa renderoutput images for stereoscopic imagery.

or is there's any another option to render elements for 2d post motion blur?

Cheers,

gakkie

Hello,

FumeFX 2.0 will have Velocity RE, that might be used for post blur.

A funny thing I noticed about RSMB is that in the latest versions (since maybe 2 years) I get incredible results without any vector passes. The last time I tried with a vector pass, I compared the result without vector and the best one was without the vector pass! I think RSMB does a great job on 99% of my shots. for the one percent left I just render the motion blur in 3d (with vray which is at least 35 times faster than mental ray motion blur).

Please try RSMB without vector on your shots and compare it to the result with vector and tell me how it goes please.

I know this is old, but I've had to deal with motion blur line up a handful of times with other packages.

While at asylum I would render out the velocity RE pass and in nuke they have a vector blur node that reads this pass and gives them a ton of control on how to blur your element.

The flame guys even used the same pass to do a color time blur which really adds a realistic feel.

I always render this pass out now just to have. It's very useful in comp even if you already have a 3d blurred element.
