Blurry details and dark areas with sharp edges inside clouds - oggyplanet - 09-01-2009

Hi There,

when flying through clouds the noise-details getting blurry and dark areas appear. How to solve this?
Please take a look at the attached files.

Very simple scene-setup, no object-shadows, small view- and shadow-steps...
I'm using max 2009, Afterburn 4.0b, finalrender sp3 with fisheye-camera

Thanks++,

Hello,

Do you use Octane Shader ?
Also, does it render properly with regular camera ?

Regards,

No, i use raymarcher and lambert shading. This also appears with phong or without shading .
edit: without shading the problem is gone. But we need shading for a realistic feeling.
I tried without fisheye and its the same. (We need fisheye for dome-production)

thx,

Hello,

I'm rendering with Scanline and it's hard to reproduce what you get.
Here is my guess - what happens if you set scattering to Isotropic ?

Thank you.

Hello,

with isotropic its the same. It just renders a bit lighter.

With scanline-renderer its the same problem. Just set the camera FOV to 120 or less.

Thanks!

Hello,

In your scene, I have changed only the color of AfterBurn to white (to see it more clearly) and it
renders fine here. Not sure why images look so much different.
