Hello,

I suggest that you contact Vue developers as it seems this is their fault.

Great thank you for the reply on this issue. I agree it does seem to be something that e-on is needing to do on their end. In the VUE user forum I just found out that Vray will not render fume fx at all when a vue scene is used. I am talking with E-on today to get the ball rolling on this. I will keep you posted on the turn of events.

Hello just wanted to give an update on this matter of Vue exstream in Max and fume fx not rendering together. I sent in a priority report to E-on vue department and they got back to me on this matter with test renders and eveything and said that they have started talking with Sitni Sati to see if they can get these two bad boys to play together. How cool is that. If anyone at sitni sati can fill me on how how things are going on there end on this I would love to hear from you like I am from E-on. For now I can alway comp shots with fume fx but for the easy stuff it would be great not to have to if you know what i mean.

Hello,

I've come to conclusion that it's mental ray itself that does not play well.

There are two cases I am aware of:
- ambient occlusion with volume shader doesn't work good
- lume fog (for example) with a volume shader inside a geometry does not blend well either.

For those tests I was using only mental ray shaders that come with 3ds max.
If those are not handled properly by mental ray, then Vue and FumeFX can't blend together as well.

By any chance did you send these findings onto Autodesk or the makers of mental ray?
