Smoke behind/front an object AND width/lenght/height value? - harlequin - 02-12-2008 Greetings everyone. I have two questions for the community today, hoping you can answer one of them or both. Non disclosure agreements obliged me to stay silent on which film i am working on, i will "translate" my problem in simple situation. Ok ,first question. I have a simple emitter circling around a long and narrow cylinder. The emitter start at the base , emitting smoke as he move up in the Y axis. Simple stuff, ya know! But in the display of max and also in my render, the smoke never seem to know when she is behind on in front of the cylinder??? She always seem to "think" that she is in front, always. A bit hard to matte it out to see that she is behind the cylinder. I also had this same problem with fire too...Anyone had this problem in display and in render ? Ok, second question. I have worked some time with maya Fluid and they are very clear about the fact that your voxel need to stay “squarish” in all situation, if not, you could see some strange result in render. My question is two folds. Is it necessary to have integer value in my width, length and height value? Is it also necessary to have equal and squarish value in both of these three values? Ya know, if my height is 17 , length is 24 and height is 16, mathematicly I can’t have square voxel, right? I hope my question are clear and you can shed some light? Thanks. Simon Re: Smoke behind/front an object AND width/lenght/height value? - Rif - 02-12-2008 reading quicly , for your first question : is it something like in this post that you are experiencing ? : viewtopic.php?f=8&t=509 The consider atmopsherics checkbox is on ? i cant think of another reason to explain that behavior.. number 2 : "Ya know, if my height is 17 , length is 24 and height is 16, mathematicly I can’t have square voxel, right? " if you are refering to the grid Dimensions in the fume fx rollouts , this is simply for the Big grid "environment of action " and do NOt determine the cubic sides of each voxels.. if you enable Voxel Grid o XY or AUto in your viewport , you will be able to see the each squares. aka voxels , witch are perfectly cubic.. Hope that helps ! Re: Smoke behind/front an object AND width/lenght/height value? - sitnisati - 02-15-2008 Hello, I can only add to Rif's reply that voxels in FumeFX are always square, so do not worry about limitations in Maya - use any sizes you like 8) Regards, Kresimir Re: Smoke behind/front an object AND width/lenght/height value? - harlequin - 02-15-2008 Thanks for answering. Number 2 , problem solved and understood. Number 1, i'm not sure i understand perfectly the other thread . I will come back with an update monday. Thanks chummers.
Re: Smoke behind/front an object AND width/lenght/height value? - harlequin - 03-07-2008 Thanks Rif. The consider atmopsherics checkbox is on ? No ,it wasn't. Simple solution . Thanks chummer. Sincerely, Simon |
