Trial version - keep losing parameters - PeterH_RMD - 11-06-2007
I'm trying out the FumeFX trial version in 3DS Max 9. It seems to work otherwise and looks pretty amazing, but occasionally loses / resets some parameters (fire turns white, emitter keyframes disappear, etc). So I was wondering, what are the demo's restrictions? Are the lost parameters a bug, or a cripple feature?

If it's like most Afterworks plugins, if you have AUTOSAVE enabled, the 'no saving parameters' code will revert everything. Turning off autosave will stop this strange behavior.

Thank for your reply! Unfortunately it appears that the file I saved had already lost several parameters, so I'll have to do some of my work again. :?
What is the "no saving parameters" code? Where / how do I set it?

It seems to lose parameters whenever I save. I guess this is a trial version restriction then?
(it's not stated anywhere what the trial version's limitations exactly are)

My apologies for being unclear....I am not positive, but with Dreamscape, when I used the demo the limitation was indeed that you couldn't save a file with changed parameters - any attempt to save reverts them to default settings. So if this is what they also did with FumeFX, it would look exactly as you describe. It was confusing to me back then because I KNEW that saving was disabled, so I never bothered to try to save while I was playing around, but my Autosave settings in Max were trying to keep my data safe, but when that would happen I'd have an inexplicable loss of settings. Sounds like what you have.
