Quality - Woody79 - 01-17-2007 Hopefully someone can help me I have simed with a tight grid, and with quality at 1, and interations at 20, im getting nice swirls and good detail. Now when i turn up the quality to 4 and iterations to 100 for a final sim. The damn fluid doesnt budge in places, and acts completely differently to when it was on quality 1. Am i doing something wrong? as im finding as i turn up the settings i need to go back and keep increasing the emittion velocity, and the density etc. - cgroman - 01-17-2007 welcome to the world of fume. i dunno why u should increase density, but ur right concerning the velocity. the less iterations r used for sim, the more the fluid can continue to move straight, while many iterations will give u more detail through swirls, that also cause the fluid to slow down faster. its the same with vorticity: the higher the value, the more the fluid tends to be turbulent inside and this simply cost speed. it cant keep direction... u have to keep that in mind, then u can work quite well with lower and higher res sims.
- Woody79 - 01-17-2007 cheers roman hmm i guess that makes sense. The sim becomes more senstive with higher settings. I tihnk im going to stick to quality 1 for all my smoke only shots. its very whispy and light, so i doubt it will be an issue. I have a hunch that that vorticity might be the culprite. Im animating it from 0 to 1, but quite quickly, maybe i should slow that down, and only bring it up nearer the end. sweet. getting there slowly, learning by trial, tear hair out, ask questions, and lots of errors~!
