DST File Format creating - Paul Buckland - 10-25-2006 I just purchased Dreamscape 2.5 so I once again am a newbie :-) I see from the Terra Editor that the dst file format seems to be a grey scale Z reference where white is the highest point and black the lowest. I create very accurate terrain from huge x,y,z (lidar) point clouds. In order to edit them I capture a 16 bit version of the zbuffer and save it out in a 16bit png file and then use this to displace simple but huge poly plane. This gives me lots of control over "cut" and "Fill" land alterations. Since Dreamscape doesnt import xyz ascii point clouds is there any way to create a dst file from my png's? That way I could use the Terrain editor. - sitnisati - 10-26-2006 Hello Paul, You could do following. - Create a new Terra. - Open a material editor and choose Bitmap Map and select your png file. - Drag a Bitmap Map from material editor to Terra Displacement Map - Click 'Generate Grid' button This procedure will allow you to create DreamScape Terrain from any image I hope this helps. Kresimir - Paul Buckland - 10-26-2006 Yes it did thank you so much :-) - sitnisati - 10-27-2006 You're welcome ! Kresimir |
