Max 2017 refuse to open after install of FumeFX 4.1 - Michael Plaengsken - 10-02-2017
Hi
After installing Fume 4.1 for 3dsmax 2017 max won't open anymore, giving the an error massage:
DLL failed to initialize properly - not loading.
Max will not start anymore. Even uninstalling Fume didn't help. Had to reset windows to an earlier system restore point! any ideas?

Hello Michael,
I think they've had a bug in 3ds max 2017 and if you had a path to plug-in listed twice, the FileLink.dlu would crash.
Please check the plugin.ini for double paths and let us know.

I checked the 3 files that came in mind (see attached image) and they look ok. the duplicate plugin path error is familiar and 3dsmax usually starts if you click ok, but in my case I get the message "3ds max failt to start". My colleague has the same problem.
any ideas?

It was maybe about the plugin.ini paths that are not existing, so please try following:

That path: "AfterworksOptional=C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 2017\plugins\Afterworks\Optional" didn't exist on my installation! added it manually. Now it works!
