fumefx not rendering at all in Mental Ray - ducky - 02-14-2014 Fumefx sims fine on my machine, not network rendering. Scanline renders fine. When I use Mental Ray I get nothing at all, if I switch to scanline, it renders fine. I can compose rendered fumefx output in after effects but would like to be able to get it to render in my scenes using Mental Ray since that's mostly what I render in. Is there a switch I need to flip or a box I need to check somewhere to make Mental Ray work with Fumefx? I am using FumeFx Version 3.5.3 on Max Design 2014 Re: fumefx not rendering at all in Mental Ray - sitnisati - 02-14-2014 Hello, As I understood, the mental ray does not want to render locally ? For network rendering you require additional FumeFX-mental ray shader licenses. If local rendering fails, can you please set mr verbosity level to progress and post the output ? Also, please check the mental ray folder: \NVIDIA\shaders_autoload\mentalray\shaders and look for the files FumeFXmr.dll and VoxelFlow.dll - can you see those? Thank you. Regards, Kresimir Tkalcec Re: fumefx not rendering at all in Mental Ray - ducky - 02-14-2014 This is how my Max Design 2014 Folder structure is set up: Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max Design 2014\NVIDIA\shaders_autoload_mentalray\shaders\ FumeFXmr.dll Max.DIR VoxelFlow.dll As you can see, there is an NVIDIA folder, not a mentalray folder that contains these .dlls. Maybe I need to reconfigure my system paths to look for the .dll file in the NVIDIA folder and not a mentalray folder? If that is the case, I am not real sure how to do that. I understand that I need extra licenses if I want to network render. This is rendering on the same machine that has my 3ds Max license. No network rendering involved. Thank you for the quick reply to my question. This is all I can tell you at the moment. I will try setting my mental ray verbosity as per your request and post what I get. Re: fumefx not rendering at all in Mental Ray - ducky - 02-14-2014 In the Render Message: NVIDIA mental ray window: MSG 0.0 17 MB error: Atmospheric "FusionWorks Renderer" in not supported. MSG 0.0 18 MB error: Atmospheric "FusionWorks Renderer" in not supported. Upper right corner of the Render Window it says: mental ray 3.11.1.10 Num. CPUs 8 Num.Threads: 8 Re: fumefx not rendering at all in Mental Ray - sitnisati - 02-18-2014 Hello, FusionWorks Renderer is not needed when using the mental ray and it can be disabled. For the NVIDIA folder, FumeFX files (including the AWShaders.mi) should be inside the active mental ray folder. Regards, Kresimir Tkalcec |
