tips to make fumefx behave more like dust - fabiomsilva - 08-09-2012

Hey guys
Im trying to make my sim look like dust instead of smoke. Any valuable tips to make it look more like that?(without krakatoa) just like to render generic dust puff on ground impact or something.

ive been trying using almost no (or at all) temperature to stop the smoke from goiing up, but the general shape looks strange to me.

please let me know

cheers
Fabio.

In your source turn the density way up, then in the rendering tab, turn the opacity way down. Should get more of a heavy dust/sand look

Heya Fabio,

Not sure what you mean by strange, however we've had pretty good results using similar settings to that of smoke. The exceptions would be of course to not let temperature affect it like smoke unless that's the goal. Most movement should be caused by either other objects, emitters, or space warps.
